Road closures on Weds 16 April: Lewis Lane & Sandy Rise

Road repair work in the estate moves to a new phase on Wednesday 16 April, and will involve some temporary road closures. These affect Lewis Lane and Sandy Rise in particular. We will issue further more detailed information on timings of closures on Tuesday 15 April.
Our contractors will begin resurfacing in Lewis Lane at breakfast time on Wednesday morning, working their way down towards Chiltern Hill and the Lincoln Road junction.
Unlike the patching and planing that’s been carried out over the last few days, once resurfacing work starts, vehicles will not be allowed to pass and the road will need to remain closed for several hours to allow the tarmac to set.
Lewis Lane will therefore be closed to traffic from about 0800 on Wednesday. It may not re-open until late afternoon.
Lewis Lane residents are advised to park their cars elsewhere on the estate during Tuesday evening, or at the very latest by 0730 on Wednesday. If you know a family elsewhere in Chalfont Heights who will let you park in their driveway, that’s probably the best option: there will be a lot of heavy plant moving on our roads that day, and in particular residents are asked please not to park on Lower Chiltern Hill and at the Chiltern Hill end of Lincoln Road.
Lower Chiltern Hill will also be inaccessible during some of Wednesday, for traffic approaching from above.
As the contractors work their way down and reach the main crossroads with Sandy Rise and Lincoln Road, later on Wednesday Sandy Rise will also become inaccessible by road and may remain so until early or mid evening as the tarmac sets. If they need to use their vehicles during Wednesday afternoon and evening, they are also advised to park elsewhere before the closure.
We’ll try to provide more accurate timings tomorrow.
